“Happy is the man who finds a true friend, and far happier is he who finds that true friend in his wife.” Franz Schubert
This is how I feel about Monika & Pete. They are best friends who fancy the pants off one another! I first met Monika face-to-face in the reception of The Gretna Chase Hotel and she was as cool as a cucumber helping out with the preparations. There was no rush or evident nerves because she was marrying her best friend. I hurried to Pete’s room to say hi and he answered the door in boxer shorts which just sums up how relaxed (and hilarious) the whole day was! I quickly realised their relationship was always meant to be and they’d only found out once they’d met each other!
Getting ready was a laugh-a-minute with plenty of klinks, hugs and stories about their relationship. A few happy tears were thrown into the mix and blank stares having realised the overwhelming, ‘I do’ moment was edging closer! Once all togged up, Monika literally skipped down the stairs to the waiting car which Pete had booked a surprise. There are people that are thoughtful, and then there’s Pete - he simply takes it to the next level. He’ll be putting Monika’s happiness first for the rest of their lives, which became clear when they were reunited at the altar. He showcased his bride like something I’d never seen before and continued to do so all day. In fact, everyone had their time in the spotlight and it was as much a celebration for M+P as it was for their family and friends. Everyone was encouraged to get stuck in and at speech time, the room vibrated with raucous laughter. It was just pure joy.
The portrait shots were my favourite part of the day. The emotion and connection they both gave me was just the biggest honour - it totally floored me. When I suggested perhaps putting the veil over their heads, before I could finish my sentence, it was done and they were smooching underneath it! They were a photographers dream! I have no doubt their marriage together will be go above and beyond, becoming a love story that will be spoke about in 100 years! They are drawn together like two attractive magnets - they won BIG!
Here are some snippets of their day. I can still feel the emotion behind them and hear the laughter. Thank you for having me guys - let’s get a dinner date in (as long as you invite your entire wedding party!) x
