I’ve had my eye on Louise Timothy for a while, well her yoga services to be more precise. A friend recommended her ‘cosy yoga’ sessions which I’ve now tried, and they are everything and more. I even fell asleep during the meditation part and left feeling ENERGISED, like I could take on the world, one chocolate cube at a time (*Louise provides vegan chocolate during these classes!) There’s blankets, lavender eye masks and oils – do I need to say anymore?
Louise started her business last Summer and already these ‘niche’ cosy sessions are sold out. Her work ethic is incredible, going above and beyond to make her clients happy. She’s one of those people that once she’s in your life, as a yoga teacher and/or a friend, you’ll be making sure she stays put! Did I mention she works full time, and has a gazillion hobbies? Everything about her says STRONG and the added extra – all the love entwined in that strength. She will give anything a go, which is probably why our shoot was next level FUN!
Moments before you start a shoot, there’s this excited butterfly feeling because you never know what’s going to happen. You just hope the dynamic works, and you can get your subject to relax, which means you have to relax too! You wait for the magic to happen, and it usually does towards the end when everyone is warmed up. But not on this shoot – Louise made sure the magic bolted straight out the gate. It was zero degrees on the Moors, and yoga poses were instinctively happening on wet rocks, at height! It was a pleasure to watch, never mind photograph!
I used one lens for this shoot – my trusty canon 28mm 1.8. It has a quick auto-focus, and you can shoot wide open in low light, still capturing the sharpest detail. It’s my go-to lens for portraits because it knocks the backdrop out so beautifully. As I head into weddings this year, my next journey will be with an 85mm 1.4 lens. Anyone have one? Would love your tips.
Before I finish up, I just wanted to put out a casting call for, ‘STRONG WOMEN.’ January has been a month that has brought many epic woman into my life. It’s been an honour to capture them, their businesses and be inspired along the way. I’m taking it as a sign from the universe to fall down this rabbit hole and capture more. If you’re a strong woman with a business, a skill or a story to share, send your details here and I’ll get back to you.
If you’ve made it this far, you’re receiving a virtual hug but please keep scrolling for more pics.
Hope you like them.
