A few weeks ago, I had the honour of capturing Jamie & Jade’s big day at Applewood Weddings. I kept Googling the venue beforehand and felt so fortunate to be a part of it. Woodland TICK. Teepee TICK. Handfast ceremony TICK. Ace couple TICK. I actually stayed way past my ‘clock off’ time which is testament to what was going down underneath all that canopy! My last memory of the day is a guest (called MEL) literally flying through the air dancing. Enough said!
It all began at Jade’s house where her beautiful gang were getting ready. Excitement had clearly top-trumped nerves and the front door kept swinging open with the sound of laughter. The arrival of a napping Evelyn Rae (THE world’s cutest flower girl) completed the bridesmaid headcount so naturally my lens started firing up. Jade’s stunning Savin dress was almost leaping off its hanger shrieking for her to put it on, and the shoes were so Carrie Bradshaw, I wanted to run off with them! As soon as Jade began getting bridal ready, her mother was mesmerised, beaming with pride and love. Thankfully, this was my cue to get to venue and take my glazed eyes with me!
As soon as I arrived at Applewood Weddings just outside of Leeds city centre, I knew this was my kind of gig. A huge Bar Events UK teepee peaked through the tree tops. The ceremony space was surrounded by trees with beautiful paths for guests to explore, and a cocktail bar in a quirky caravan. I galloped across to the groom, who in fact wasn’t the groom, but his brother/best man. AWKWARD! Sorry about that Jamie but it goes to show you guys are two peas in a pod. A highlight for me was during the speeches when they tossed around man love like a tasty leaf salad!
They said ‘I DO’ in an open forest, the handfast way which was unbelievable. Performed by the ever fabulous Celebrant No1, it honoured family, friends and treasured loved ones no longer with us. It really was the perfect way to go for this special couple who lit up when their eyes locked on one another. Formalities done, there was only one thing left - TO PARTY! And boy did they do that. And can I just say to all the future couples fearing UK weather, it does not matter one jot if it rains! In fact, the drizzle kept everyone closer together. More socialising. More drink. More laughs! That’s enough from me - here’s their magical day.
