Without a doubt, a couple sets the tone of the wedding. Whether or not their personalities are sprinkled all over it will determine the mood. If they see a couple beaming and full of life, they will follow suit. Couples lead the way and guests giddily and swiggily follow (totally making up words right now but that’s what this wedding did to me!) Hannah & Matt’s day was sooooo them! They enjoyed every sweet second of it and their guests LOVED it!
I arrived at Hannah’s mum’s house to a sea of women and Augustus the pug, who took all the attention in his stride. The fridge was packed with Diet Coke and Smirnoff pink cans which I was immediately offered, before Hannah introduced me to everyone. Her girl tribe were full of fizz (not the alcoholic kind) with smiles for miles and so much good stuff to say about the bride. I too became utterly amazed at Hannah’s thoughtfulness and organisation. No creative stone had been left unturned when it came to special DIY touches. Her beautiful, well populated girl gang had gin filled hip flasks, personalised robes & slippers and were all beautified by Your Bridal Team. I just want to give a shout out to this gifted team because Hannah’s make up in particular was just stunning. Her cheeks glowed golden and her eyes twinkled with glitter and it made me want to fly to Ibiza and PARTY! Turned out I didn’t need to, because Hannah and Matt brought Ibiza to all of us!
They said ‘I do’ at Rothwell Holy Trinity Church in front of a 200 strong audience before vintage coaches took them to Left Bank in Burley Park, Leeds. I’ve visited Left Bank before but was left speechless when I entered the Grade II* listed former church, as was every guest. They had dressed the room so beautifully using up Yorkshire’s entire flower supply! Pink flowers and foliage hung from the ceiling and berries and candles decorated the tables. The bar received Hannah’s beautifying treatment, as did the pulpit which Matt made his heartfelt and very funny speech from.
I’ve decided that if Hannah’s day job goes down the pan, she must immediately go into wedding planning. Never before have I seen so many touches, and so much thought put into their guest’s experience. Both Hannah and Matt worked the room and made sure everyone was taken care of. How could they not be with beautiful tipples and an endless supply of pizza, chips topped with anything and savoury/sweet waffles.
Secretly, I’d been counting down until their first dance as I knew what was coming. Bloody hell, it was so good! They hired a Sax & DJ from Jonny Ross Music who basically needs to be at every party from now on. The DJ played, ‘Born to be yours,’ by Kygo and a happy first dance played out…until Mr Sax turned up and blew everyone away. So many memories flooded back from my house clubbing days and with the sun beaming through the windows, it really could’ve been the white isle. It truly was a stunning experience, one I’ll never forget and I was photographing it. Wonder what it was like for the guests?!
Soon it was time to wrap up, but before I left I breathed it all in (so cheesy but so true!) I looked at Hannah’s beautiful floral bodice gown and all its swish, and then I looked over at Matt who’d bounced over to Hannah with a huge smile on his face. It was the same smile he’d worn all day. He kissed her on her cheek and shoulder, held her close then they both went their separate ways to speak to more guests. Their day meant so much to them, but it’ll be nothing compared to their inspiring marriage. They compliment one another. They love being around one another. They cheer each other on. Who knows they might renew their vows in Ibiza and something tells me, everyone’s gonna want a ticket!
Here’s a sneaky peek at their colourful day…
